About the Role

Position Overview:
The Art and Wellness Specialist at Free in Color plays a pivotal role in designing and implementing creative, community-centered programs that promote mental health, healing, and engagement. This role combines expertise in art, wellness practices, and community outreach to empower individuals and foster stronger, more connected communities.

Part-Time 20 hours a week

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Background in art therapy, social services, community engagement, public health, non-profit work, expressive arts, wellness, or related fields.

  • Experience facilitating community programs or workshops.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for empowering others.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse communities, including youth, immigrant populations, and individuals navigating systemic barriers.

  • Creative problem-solver with a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.

  • 2-5 years of experience in community projects and relationship building.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    1. Program Design and Delivery:

      • Develop and facilitate creative wellness programs such as:

        • Community Wellness Murals

        • Healing Through Art workshops

        • Empowerment Through Movement sessions (e.g., yoga, dance)

      • Adapt programs to address the unique needs of each community.

    2. Community Engagement:

      • Collaborate with community leaders and organizations to identify specific challenges and opportunities.

      • Serve as a liaison to build trust and connection with diverse groups, including underserved populations.

    3. Wellness Advocacy:

      • Promote the integration of creative expression and wellness practices as tools for healing and resilience.

      • Educate participants on the benefits of art and movement for mental health.

    4. Evaluation and Reporting:

      • Assess the impact of programs through participant feedback and data collection.

      • Provide insights and recommendations for program improvement.

    5. Team Collaboration:

      • Work closely with the Free in Color team to align programs with the organization's mission and vision.

      • Support grant applications and community partnership initiatives as needed.
